Regardless of the methods you use to generate franchise leads, it is ultimately the online reputation of your franchise brand that will make or break a sale.
According to Franchise Update’s 2014 Annual Franchise Development Report, 91% of all deals done by franchisors in the survey can be traced back to self-directed internet activity, referrals, and broker networks. The internet is the largest source, accounting for 42% of franchise leads.
If a prospect has the choice between investing in a franchise that has a positive reputation online versus a brand that has a negative reputation online, they will opt to go with the company that has a favorable reputation, regardless of whether the online complaints have merit.
The success of franchise development executives now and in the future will depend on their ability to monitor, defend and repair the online reputations of the brands they represent.
